Beans and shield bugs go swimming

Look I'm really sorry but post number 2 is about beans as well ...sorry. The f beans are now almost over but scarlet runners were soon to show their true style by far out -running the f beans by a kilometre or so ! I now have so many, the kids and neighbours are showing bean resistance and even saying rot like 'we don't really like scarlett runners' or what were those other beans beginning with f. It turns out the're not really suitable to stick in a goreng anything either so it's boil or make bean pie (I just made that up).

Tell you who adores them though ...the old shield beetle (stink bug). Now he sucks the itty bean dry before it gets a chance to grow more than an inch. I suppose I should be thankful for those bugs ( can't believe i wrote that) ...they are culling the bean crop down to less than 50 per day! See above pic ... stink bugs love beans but do not love water with a drop of dishwashing detergent!

I wasn't going to start with beans but anyway i can't resist so .... I'm starting my blog with a bit about beans! ...with a lovely photo styled by my daughter and a handful of fandelosia beans (not their real name :-) but the variety does start with the letter 'f'! I seemed to have thrown the packet away but as soon as you see them in the store you will remember the 'f' reference i've just mentioned and you will also see why i can't think of their actual name. It's a bit long-winded!

Anyway, beans are dead easy, any twit can grow them and any twit does! It's the old story about how anything you have grown yourself just tastes better ! ...it's love what's made the difference!!

I've also got scarlet runners going for their lives up bamboo poles out there but there is a fierce wind tonight so by morning their upwardness may be but a sad memory.. fingers crossed for my scarlet runners aye?!
